The Rio de Janeiro State Court has suspended the payment of 581,000 BRL 🌜 ($120,000 USD) in backdated leave to Domingos Brazão, a former councilor of the Rio de Janeiro State Court of Accounts 🌜 (TCE-RJ), who is accused of being the mastermind behind the murder of city councilor Marielle Franco and her driver, Anderson 🌜 Gomes. Brazão and his brother, federal deputy Chiquinho Brazão, are currently in preventive detention in a federal prison outside the 🌜 state.

Judge Georgia Vasconcelos of the 2nd Public Finance Court ruled that the TCE-RJ's decision to grant Brazão's request to convert 🌜 his unused leave into cash was suspended until the court could hear the case. The TCE-RJ had already paid out 🌜 the amount, but the judge ordered the court to appear before her within 24 hours to explain why the payment 🌜 should not be reversed.
